Sydni's First Birthday Party Pictures...Finally!

Well, my summer hiatus from blogging has finally come to an end. I've received too much hate mail from grandparents, so I must now break my silence. I don't know what was wrong with me, but I just kinda got tired of blogging for a while. I have a lot of catching up to do - I haven't even posted the pictures from Sydni's 1st birthday party back in July!

We've been doing good. Both Dane and Sydni are growing so fast. Sydni can now not only walk, but now she's started running and can pretty much keep up with Dane as much as she wants. They really play well together, too, and that is so nice.

Anyway, here are the pictures from Sydni's birthday party. Stay tuned in future posts for many, many, many pictures from our fantastic trip to Hawaii in September!

Here's the birthday girl (well, I guess most of these are of her, obviously!)

My mom did a great job on her cake, as usual. Thank you so much, Mama.

The party room!

This girl is so lucky to have not only the best daddy ever, but also absolutely the best Papa & Pa! My daddy is one of a kind, and from the picture below, it's not hard to tell how much he loves his grandkids.

You can't tell that we're excited to help her open presents, can you?

Ready for cake! Dane did the honors and lead the group in the "Happy Birthday" song. He did such a great job and was so sweet to his little sister all day!

And now for the official 1st birthday cake pictures...

Believe it or not, but this is the messiest she got. It did get all over her face, but somehow, she managed to keep almost all of it off her clothes! I was amazed and very, very happy!

She got this dress for her birthday and wore it to church the next morning. She fell asleep in the car on the way home, so I put her right to bed as soon as we got home, and I had to take some pictures of how sweet she looked.

Happy Birthday, Sydni!

Our girl turned one today, and as usual, she has been so sweet. We all walked into her room this morning, singing "Happy Birthday", and I think she liked it pretty well. Her party isn't until tomorrow, so today has been a pretty low key day. I'll have a big post about that later. Dane is so excited - I've put him "in charge" of the party, so I'm sure that will be funny to see.

We had a family lunch at Chili's and enjoyed eating some good appetizers and all shared a Molten Chocolate Cake (Yum!). After her nap this afternoon, I changed Sydni's clothes and took some birthday pictures, and I had a very hard time just posting a couple. So, enjoy all of the pictures!

Sydni started her life out smiling, and has completed her first year, still smiling. We love you so much, Sydni Lee! You have filled our lives with so much joy. When I graduated from Jr. High, my mom gave me a little book that had the sweetest poem on it, and today, I thought I would put that poem on my post. There are parts of it that are for an older girl, but overall, it sums up so sweetly the way that I feel about my sweet little girl.

My Daughter, My Friend
A little girl-child, what a joy!
To think some say, 'I'd like a boy'
When looking forward to a birth -
They never knew a daughter's worth.
What price, a laugh so full of glee?
How much, a fairy on my knee?
A nickel's worth of shining hair
and ribbons, or a smile so fair.
What cost, to see her grow too soon
Toward high-heels, lipstick, and perfume?
No, money couldn't pay for her,
And so God loaned her, as it were.
For, it's worth more than I could spend,
For such a daughter, and a friend.

Happy Birthday, my sweet little angel!
