In all of the travel brochures for Hawaii, I had seen ads for this zip line tour with Big Island Eco Adventures. It was a 4 hour tour up in the jungle near the northern coast of the island of Hawaii. There were eight separate zip lines, ranging from very short and low to the ground up to the last one, which was 1,047 feet long over a 300 foot drop beneath it. Shayne, Lane's brother, and our nephew, Tyler, also wanted to go, so we found a date that would work for all of us, and that happened to be my first full day there, which ended up working out great. We had to drive about two hours to get there, so it took up most of the day. It really was such a great experience, and I'm really jealous because Shayne and Tyler are going to get to go do the advanced tour that will open in December! Someday, someday! We had a great time, and I'm so glad I got to do it.
Wild ginger along the trail
Our guide picked flowers for all of the ladies in our group - isn't that special!
The mosquitoes were pretty bad there, and they are also striped, which looked kinda scary. Here's one of my bites!
Just a few pretty shots along the trail
This was called "Lovers' Lane", and the trees were planted years ago by sugar cane farmers.
After one of the zips, they had snacks and drinks waiting for us in a little pavilion next to this pretty waterfall.
Me - almost in action
The next few are pictures of the zip lines themselves. You can definitely see a big difference between the earlier and later ones. They were all fun, though. If it's hard to see, just look for the dark line of the cable.
Here's a video of one of the zip lines. The ground was covered with that ginger we had seen along the trail, and apparently I found this interesting enough that I felt I needed to point it out as I zipped along.
Here's a video of one of the zips that went by a waterfall.
This next one is a picture of the last zip line. So fun. You just run and then jump off the edge of the cliff!
Here's a video of me on the last one
A view of the ocean in the distance.
Here are a couple bridges that we got to walk over.
Some pretty scenery along our drive to the course.
Wouldn't that be a great view to wake up to every morning?
A picture with our two guides at the end of the day

Great photos! I love hearing stories about how people stepped out of the box to do something outrageous. I took a zip line tour too, in Costa Rica. So much fun!!!
